Perrysburg's HistoryPerrysburg's history begins with Fort Meigs, a fort that was built in the area in 1813 by General and future president William Henry Harrison. The area was the setting for two major battles during the War of 1812. Following the war, settlers returned and formed a township on the floodplain below the bluff on which the fort was situated.
