The city of Perrysburg, OH, is in Wood County, OH. Situated on the Maumee River, Perrysburg is one of several suburbs of Toledo. However, it was actually founded before Toledo. The third mosque to be founded in America, the Islamic Center of Greter Toledo, was established in Perrysburg in the 1950s. When the center was updated and expanded during the early 1980s, it became the first mosque in North America to be built along the lines of classic Islamic architecture.

Perrysburg's History
Perrysburg's history begins with Fort Meigs, a fort that was built in the area in 1813 by General and future president William Henry Harrison. The area was the setting for two major battles during the War of 1812. Following the war, settlers returned and formed a township on the floodplain below the bluff on which the fort was situated. This township grew into Perrysburg, which was officially named in 1816.
